The International Cricket Council (ICC) decided to ban the serial pitch invader “Jarvo 69” after he breached security and invaded the pitch during the India-Australia ICC World Cup 2023 encounter in Chennai on Sunday.

The notorious pitch invader breached the security fences and appeared on the field moments after the Indian team took their fielding positions.

He was then escorted out of the ground by the officials along with India’s Virat Kohli.

However, the incident was not taken lightly by the international regulatory body which did not take long before reacting to this security breach.

“The individual concerned has been banned from attending any further games at the event and the matter is in the hands of the Indian authorities,” an ICC spokesperson stated when the Press Trust of India (PTI) enquired about the breach.

“The safety and security of everyone involved in the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 is our priority. We will work with the venue to understand what happened and consider if any additional security measures are required to prevent it happening again,” ICC spokesperson’s statement to PTI read.

It must be noted that Jarvo is a serial pitch invader who has found his way past the ground’s security a number of times, not just in cricket but also during other sports matches.

He has already been banned from the English grounds after he invaded the field a number of times during India’s tour to England in 2021.

However, this was his first appearance in an Indian venue which turned out to be the last as he is no longer allowed to visit any Indian stadium.

“Jarvo 69” also has a YouTube channel with more than 180,000 subscribers where he uploads videos of himself invading the playing area of different sports.

One of his most famous security breaches was during the 2021 UEFA Champions final between Real Madrid and Liverpool in Paris where not only he invaded the field but was also among the Los Blancos' players during the celebrations.
